SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Spartanburg County School District Four announced all schools are closed on Wednesday after the discovery of possible mold at the high school.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, school officials said personnel discovered a substance possibly mildew or mold on several desks in a room at Woodruff High School. Students had just returned to school and officials said the district was without power for eight days due to Helene.
After the discovery, the room immediately closed to students and faculty. They later found the subtance in additional areas in the school.
At this time, evidence of the subtance was only found at Woodruff High School, according to school officials.
They said all schools will have an air quality test performed by a third party as an additional precaution with results expected later in the week.
For safety, the district closed all schools and there is no expectation of e-learning.
